Evolution and functional roles of ncRNAs

Evolution of structurally conserved ncRNAs across animal and plant kingdoms

The secondary structure plays an essential role for most non-coding RNA (ncRNA) classes, and they may have critical roles in the function of ncRNAs. Identifying evolutionarily conserved structural RNAs requires the use of comparative genomics.

Therefore, by combining computational and experimental methods, we will work on an ambitious interdisciplinary project that attempts to discover and study the evolution and novel functions of ncRNAs in animals and plants, potentially impacting basic and clinical studies.
